Phase 2: a microgrid and a battery

Phase 2 extends the ground array SRE built for the University Area Joint Authority in 2018. The authority serves 50,000 customers and runs a wastewater treatment plant.

A 500 kVA battery, charged by the array, is part of the microgrid. Together, Phase 2 and the 2018 array offset 60% of the authority's energy.

The contract: a power purchase agreement (PPA)

The University Area Joint Authority – Phase 2 array runs under a power purchase agreement. It's one of the three ways SRE sets up a project, built around each client's tax position.
